I generally stay in on New Year’s Eve. It’s become more of a family tradition to veg out at home, kids in tote with intentions of a celebratory moment at midnight. Reality- It usually ends with me passed out by 10pm.
This year a dear friend thought it would be fun to go out on New Year’s Eve Eve. She managed all the planning details. All that was required of me was to get dressed and show up-my kind of night! Of course, a few weeks prior, our chat group with about 10 ladies exploded with dress code etiquette questions and who was wearing what for the night. Sure I participated in the madness, but the truth is I have a certain style that is pretty definite. I rarely veer off course unless through forcible measures where I must comply with wedding or gala dress etiquette. Otherwise, you can find me in a variation of my denim and heels uniform. I did take it up a notch since it was a more formal affair, but nonetheless still at a nightclub. My heels had all over sparkle; my denim was detailed with pearls and topped with a statement shaggy cardigan which stole the show (I lost count on the number of compliments I got on the shaggy cardigan).

I made some new friends. We all danced and laughed our tails off. I crawled into my bed at 4am. I remember thinking how I would pay dearly for this fun in a couple hours when my little one springs up. Let me tell you. It was all 100% worth it. I was also 100% passed out by 10pm on New Year’s Eve.
