diy milk bath fit for a queen
I’ve always been that girl who loves her tub. I feel like a good warm soak is like a hug for my soul and seems to top me up whenever I am in a spiritual or creative deficit. Not sure why it didn’t occur to me over all these years of soaking to try a milk bath- but so glad I finally did.
Milk baths date back to ancient Egypt. Cleopatra known for her smarts and beauty bathed in an elixir of donkey milk, honey, lavender and rose petals. I tested a few different recipes and finally landed on this one- not to worry, no donkey milk nessessary.
I used whole evaporated milk because it naturally contains lactic acid that helps shed dead skin cells. Some of my most coveted skincare products contain lactic acid and my skin adores this ingredient. If you are vegan, feel free to substitute with evaporated coconut milk which also contains lactic acid. The recipe also calls for cornstarch to help sooth dry itchy skin and aluminum free baking soda to soften skin.
All of these ingredients plus your favourite essential oils for fragrance can be found in your local Bulk Barn. This recipe is super easy and takes just a few minutes to blend together. Be sure to store in a pretty glass jar for extra gratification.
