Hi.

This  blog chronicles a mix of  my nowadays beauty crushes , soul + food nourishment with a little cheer and inspiration. But who knows? Like people and life, this blog could change .

Until then, it will just be This Is Farah Now.

take the day off girl!

why i tried it...

At the end of a busy day I try to avoid civil warfare with my lashes so, I generally do not wear mascara. Full makeup for me lately is anything beyond cc cream, blush and lip gloss. My affinity for makeup is strong and alive but my motivation to steer clear of the fight to take it all off has been stronger- until now. It’s no wonder Clinique’s Take The Day Off ™ Cleansing Balm snatched top spot in Best Luxury Makeup Remover for 2017’s Influenster Reviewers’ Choice Awards.

my experience...

I started investing in my skin when I was very young. I remember saving my pennies only to spend it all at the drug store on Seabreeze -remember that stuff?  I was 16 when started working part- time and couldn’t wait to upgrade my beauty routine. Clinique was one of the first beauty counters I shopped and has been with me on and off for almost 25 years now.

The lovely thing about this kind of product is you know after using it just one time if it works or not.  Clinique’s products are 100% fragrance free and allergy tested. That said, I continued to use for about a month to see how my skin would feel before sharing any final conclusions (all the while inside I knew it was a true winner).

The texture is balmy and creamy, like soft, smooth melted candle wax. Soon as the balm touched my skin and I would begin to massage in, it would dissolve into an oil and melted my makeup into a beautiful mess. A couple gentle cotton swipes for my eyes and a little bit of water to remove and I would be done.

how i used it...

I used this as my morning and evening cleanser every day. I generally needed to use less product in the morning compared to evenings or after a special night out. By the way, a little product here goes a very long way!

Just apply to dry skin and gently massage and remove with water. For the days I had stubborn makeup to remove I would use a cotton pad with a couple drops of water gently wipe away before washing off completely. Personally, I am a believer of double cleansing ( separate blog post on that coming soon) so sometimes I would add a little more product for a second round cleansing.

final thoughts...

This product worked like a heavy duty degreaser but left my skin pillow soft without over drying. My eyes did not burn or sting like when using other traditional eye make-up removers. I also love that I can use this all over my face as a cleanser. Anything that simplifies my life and saves me time earns a coveted spot on my beauty shelf. Welcome to the family!

Clinique’s Take The Day Off ™ Cleansing Balm can be purchased for $38 at Sephora
